Steps urged to promote book-reading culture

PESHAWAR, May 25 (APP): Speakers at a function here highlighted the importance of book-reading and stressed the need for establishment of public libraries and information resources centres. The function was held under auspices of Peshawar Uplift programme at Saalim Khan Khalil library in Hayatabad. The participants said the importance of book-reading cannot be ignored in the modern era. They also stressed that the government should take steps for fulfilling facilities at public libraries and ensure availability of relevant resources material which would be easily available for students and the public. The speakers appreciated the organizers for arranging such a informative event which highlighted the importance of book-reading and libraries. They said libraries will have significance role for dissemination of various information and keep alive the culture and historic norms, by creating knowledge among the coming generation. Similarly, libraries also played major role for education purpose and helping out in provision of information for the relevant studies.
