CHITRAL, Jan 24:  The Bumborat police arrested two persons on the charge of smuggling liquor from the valley to other parts of Chitral. SHO Bumborat Sub-Inspector Hasanullah said on the direction of DPO Chitral Ghulam Hussain and SDPO Khalid Khan, they raided different places to stop the smuggling of local wine (Tarra) from Kalash valley to other parts of Chitral. During checking, the police recovered 11 bottles of wine from the possession of Ali Ahmad Shah, of Awi Booni, and three bottles from Faizur Rehman, of Jughor in Chitral town. They were traveling on foot with the liquor along the bank of Bumborat stream to avoid the police checking. Earlier, the SHO recovered hashish from different persons. It is worth mentioning that in most of the cases the Muslim community has been found involved in smuggling of wine from the Kalash valleys to other parts of Chitral. The local wine is prepared in different homes in the Kalash valley by the minority community and people from outside come to the area mostly for drinking and smuggling of the wine to other parts of Chitral.–Gul Hamaad Farooqi  ]]>
