Young Khowar poets make debut at Mushaira
DROSH, Jan 8: PICL, the institute which is working for the promotion of languages and cultures, in collaboration with the SRSP arranged a Mushaira in Drosh to promote and encourage the young and upcoming poets to present their poetry.
About 35 poets from different parts of Chitral participated in the Mushaira. As many as 16 of the poets presented their poems in front of any gathering for the first time. The Mushaira was presided over by prominent social and political figure Salahuddin Toofan while SRSP human resources development director Haji Gul Rehman was the chief guest.
PICL chairman Ejaz Ahmed Ejaz was the host of the event. A cultural show was also organized after the Mushaira in which eight musical groups from different parts of Chitral performed. Interestingly, four of the musical groups performed in front of any large gathering for the first time.
Speaking on the occasion, PPP local leader Akmal Bhutto said that it was for the first time in the history of Drosh that such a large number of youth have participated in any literary and cultural programme. He thanked the PICL for arranging the event for the promotion and exploitation of the potential of the youth.
Hafizullah Amin, the president of Dabistan-e-Booni, said PICL was playing a very key role in the promotion of Chitrali culture and language. PICL general secretary Hameedullah Hameed thanked the SRSP for assisting the institute in arranging the programme.
The speakers said that there was no dearth of talented youth in Chitral but there was a need that they should be given a chance and guidance to explore their capabilities. The role of the youth in the promotion of the Khowar language and culture was also highlighted by the speakers on the occasion.
