CHITRAL, Jan 6: Two hunters from Peshawar hunted one Himalayan ibex each at Agram Gol conservancy of Arkari valley as a part of trophy hunting on Monday.
Irshad Ahmed, an official of the wildlife department, said Fahad Wazir hunted a 45-inch ibex while Mohammad Usman hunted a 40-inch ibex. Both the animals were aged between six to eight years, he said, adding the hunters had to chase them for the entire day in the mountainous terrain.
The official said each hunter paid Rs75,000 to the department as a fee. He said 80 per cent of the amount would be handed over to local community to utilise it through the village conservation committee. “The ibex has a comfortable density of population in the district. It is found in both the lower and upper parts of the district and according to a recent survey its number is more than 3,000,” Mr Ahmed said.–Zahiruddin

It is disgusting to allow the people to hunt such a precious and beautiful animal just for a small money. These animals are the beauty of our mountains. We should not allow the people to hunt such a rare kind of wildlife.
