Work launched on micro-power projects in Torkhow valley
CHITRAL, Dec 9: The Sarhad Rural Support Program (SRSP) inaugurated the construction of three micro-hydel power stations in the remote mountain villages of Terich and Reich. These projects are being undertaken the EU-PEACE project. The inaugural ceremony held in Simtich, Reich Bala and Recih Payeen where a large number of local people were present. The SRSP would construct two power houses of 100kws and one of 35kw, said a press release. AC Mastuj Minhasuddin, Tariq Ahmed, the District Program Manager SRSP, also attended the ceremonies. Talking to people of these three villages who had gathered in the launching ceremonies, AC Minhassudin lauded the performance of the SRSP in the poverty reduction in Chitral and said that the district administration would extend full support to the SRSP. He said Chief Executive of SRSP Masoodul Mulk was leaving no stone unturned in exploring opportunities for the development of Chitral. Tariq Ahmed briefed the community about the procedures and protocols of PEACE project and urged the communities to monitor the physical progress so that the objectives of sustainable development could be achieved. He said that SRSP’ chief executive was very keen toward development opportunities for the people of this backward area. Local community representatives Nadir Khan, Jam Mohammad and Allauddin Urfi thanked SRSP chief for approving micro-hydel projects for these backward areas. ]]>
