AKES teachers reject new salary package
HUNZA-NAGAR, Sept 14: The teachers working with the Aga Khan Education Service (AKES) here have rejected the salary package announced for them by the organization terming an insult and a peanut. The teachers said for the last many years they had been assured of a handsome salary package keeping in view the rising inflation. But now the AKES management has announced an increase that the teachers said was not what they had been expecting for. the representatives of the teachers said that they would announce boycotting classes within a few days and would also approach the court of law to get justice. According to the new package, the graduate teachers appointed during the last about two years will not get a salary of Rs13,000 against Rs7,000 they were getting so far. The new salary is even less than a grade 1 employee of the government is paid. It may be noted that the AKES teachers were appointed after intense test and interview with the promise that they would be given a handsome package and other perks and facilities.]]>
