No objection if govt changes SBBU's name

CHITRAL, July 4: The registrar of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU), Prof Badshah Hussain, has said land is being acquired for the Chitral campus of the university. Addressing the concluding ceremony of a three-day workshop on ‘ensuring training effectiveness’ here on Thursday, he said that the university will provide conducive atmosphere and facilities to the students for research on its rich biodiversity and natural resources. Regarding the reservations of the people regarding the name of the university, Mr. Hussain said that the university will offer no resistance if the provincial government change it. “The name of the university is of no substance but the real thing is the standard of education maintained in it,” he said. He said that out of the 19 need-based scholarships of Higher Education Commission, 10 were awarded to the students of Chitral Campus which spoke about the importance the university gave to it. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Inayatullah Faizi, who was the chief guest, said the prime function of the universities was to produce knowledge rather than imparting it and all this is can be made possible by keeping the teaching faculty abreast with the emerging knowledge. He asked the participants of the workshop to fully apply the new techniques in their respective class room and said “the trainings have been developed into a full fledged sciences and deriving their positive outcome was a complex matter which needed proper expertise”. Director Quality Enforcement Cell of the university, Dr. Mohammad Kamal, also highlighted the different modules of the workshop and their relevancy to the students and their environment. On behalf of the participants of the workshop, Masood Anwar and Nusrat Saeed spoke about the utility and value of the training workshop and termed very helpful in their teaching activities. Certificates of participation and cheques of scholarships were given away by Badshah Hussain, Dr. Inayatullah Faizi and Professor Farzana Parveen. Thirty teachers of the Chitral campus of the university and the affiliated colleges participated in the workshop held under the auspices of Higher Education Commission.–Zahiruddin]]>
