We see no change: Protest held against powerhouse closure

DROSH, July 2: A protest was held here on Tuesday against the closure of the Shishi powerhouse suspending electricity supply to the garrison town for the last over two months. The protest was organized by Insaf Youth Wing and Insaf Student Federation. Speaking on the occasion, Razit Billah, the vice chairman of PTI Chitral, said that the people of the area had voted for Imran Khan’s party for a change but unfortunately the bureaucracy had kept the Shishi power house closed for the last two months to bring a bad name to the provincial government led by the PTI. He said that a delegation lad by PTI district president Abdul Lateef had met Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and apprised him of the issue but even then no steps have been taken to resolve the matter. He said that the protesters would stage a sit-in for two days and if their demand was not met they would be forced to close the Chitral-Peshawar road. Because of the protest demonstration, the Chitral-Peshawar road remained closed for about two hours. A resolution was also passed on the occasion which demanded that the Shishi power house should be given under the control of Shydo snf sa judicial inquiry be conducted into the closure of the power house. It was also decided that the local lawyers would file a case with the court of law about the matter., Those who also spoke on the occasion included Haji Mohammad Shifa, Zahir Khan, Akmal Bhutto, Lal Fakhre Alam, Khosh Nawaz alias Malik, and Zubairuddin Qazi, the president of the Insaf Student Federation.  ]]>
