NA-32: Judiciary praised for clearing Musharraf
CHITRAL, April 7: The acceptance of the nomination papers of former president and army chief general (Rtd) Pervaiz Musharaf, for NA-32 Chitral, sent a wave of joy and enthusiasm among the people of Chitral on Sunday. In his short verdict, district returning officer Mohammad Afzal said the nomination papers of Syed Pervez Musharraf for the National Assembly seat NA-32 Chitral are accepted. After hearing the decision, Haji Ghullam Mohammad, APML candidate for PF-90 upper Chitral, and senior leader Shahzada Iftikharuddin, who was the covering candidate for Musharraf in NA-32, became very excited and started chanting slogans in favour of Musharraf. The news spread like a wildfire in the entire Chitral town and a large number of people gathered at the old PIA Chowk and distributed sweets and chanted slogans in favour of Musharraf. Later, Ghulam Mohammad and Shahzada Iftikharuddin led a procession from the district courts to the Chitral press club and held a press conference there. Addressing the journalists, Iftikharuddin thanked the independent judiciary for its historic verdict. He said democracy is in the true sense of the word is the will of the people and by giving an opportunity to the people of Chitral to elect their favourite representative the judiciary has upheld this basic principle of democracy. He said the services of General Pervez Musharraf for Chitrali are unprecedented and now it is the turn of Chitrali people to pay back the debt to him. He said being a personality of international level and as a former president of Pakistan and the army chief, Musharraf was in a better position to change the destiny of Chitral. Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Mohammad said that now the people of Chitral will elect Musharraf and his party candidates with a thumbing majority. He also thanked the judiciary for its impartial verdict. He appealed to the people of Chitral to convey the message of Musharraf in every nook and corner of Chitral. ]]>
