Yarkhun River in high flood
CHITRAL, June 23: As the temperature started to rise even in the upper parts of Chitral, streams in all the valleys have swollen, creating flooding in the rivers, especially in Yarkhun River. He also lost his cattle and the family is reportedly living under the open sky. So far, no help is forthcoming either from the government or any civil society organization. The Yarkhun River is also spreading its banks near Dizg, Brep, Khoz/Kargin and Chappali villages where it has already damaged a large swath of agricultural land and destroyed houses and crops. People of the area have been demanding of the government to construct embankments along the river to save their properties from the floods but to no avail. They called upon the authorities concerned to take steps before the river further damages their agricultural fields and houses—Syed Nazir Hussain Shah]]>
