ANP strengthening in Chitral, claims minister

CHITRAL, May 26:  Due to its humanitarian services and launching developmental projects, the Awami National Party (ANP) has become the most popular party in Chitral, said provincial minister for livestock and dairy development Haji Hidayatullah Khan. He was addressing a public gathering at Governor Cottage where a large number of people from different political parties joined the ANP. He said Bacha Khan was a pioneer of non- aggression and a missionary for peace and the people of Chitral are also peace lovers and famous for their hospitality. A large number of women also joined the ANP and assured the minister that they would work to further strengthen the party in Chitral. The minister announced Rs20 million for the party in Chitral. Addressing the meeting, Col retired Sardar Mohammad said the chief minister had announced a grant of Rs20 million for pensioners (ex serviceman association) but the money had not yet reached them. He said the CM had also promised establishment of a soldier house at Chitral to accommodate retired military personnel for night stay who came from Broghul and remote valleys. But we are shocked to know that no action has been taken regarding the case. He demanded construction of the soldier house as well as launching of developmental network in the region. Besides others, Syed Muzafar Hussain Jan also spoke on the occasion and assured the gathering that the ANP-led government would develop Chitral and had already launched several developmental schemes here. He said the provincial government would announce a good news in near future for generating of 79 Megawatt hydropower project at Lawi in Drosh. The minister also visited the trout fish hatchery at Jughoor where he was briefed about the breeding of the fish. He also paid a visit to Koghuzi and watched cricket match there. A large number of people also joined ANP at Koghuzi. He announced Rs50,000 for the organizing committee and Rs300,000 for maintenance of the cricket ground.—G.H. Farooqui    ]]>
