Islamabad, March 18, 2026: After more than six weeks of investigation, Islamabad police have finally found a clue in the shooting of Alamgir Khan, a young man from Chapali, Upper Chitral, who was injured in the capital city on January 30, 2026.
Alamgir was returning home from a market in Sector G-9 when an unknown assailant fired at him, hitting him in the lower back. He was rushed to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences for emergency surgery and remained hospitalized for over two weeks.
The victim’s brother, Aurangzeb Khan, lodged a formal FIR at Karachi Company Police Station, accusing an unknown person of shooting Alamgir near a commercial building. Despite providing CCTV footage of the incident, the family said they had to chase authorities to make progress in the investigation.
Police officials said the case proved challenging because the suspect’s mobile records did not reveal contacts of his relatives, and initial attempts to trace him to two known addresses in Sector I-10 and Murree were unsuccessful.
However, authorities have now managed to contact the suspect’s sister, who has guaranteed she will bring him to the police station. The official said the suspect’s family claims he is innocent.
Investigators also noted that Alamgir and the suspect had exchanged a heated argument earlier in the day at a courier service office, which may have escalated into the shooting that occurred roughly 30 minutes later.
Police assured that the suspect would be released if proven innocent, but the breakthrough in contacting the family marks the first real progress in the case after weeks of delays, providing hope that justice for Alamgir may finally be within reach.
