ISLAMABAD, Nov 18, 2025: Vice Chancellor of Khyber Medical University (KMU) Dr. Zia-ul-Haq has been appointed as the executive director of Higher Education Commission (HEC).
He brings a wealth of experience in academic leadership and institutional management. His extensive background in higher education makes him well-positioned to oversee and guide Pakistan’s national education policies.
The appointment follows a rigorous selection process, where a committee shortlisted four candidates after conducting comprehensive interviews. Dr. Haq’s leadership and strategic vision for the development of higher education were key factors in his selection.
As Vice Chancellor of KMU, Dr. Haq worked towards enhancing the quality of medical education, fostering research and strengthening academic partnerships. It is expected that he will bring a similar focus on quality enhancement, curriculum development, and innovation to the HEC, which plays a critical role in shaping higher education across the country.
