PPP Leaders Announce Protest Against Governor Kundi

PESHAWAR, Oct 29, 2025: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders from Peshawar City District have announced plans to stage a protest against Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, accusing him of misusing the Governor House for personal interests and undermining party activities in the province.

Addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, senior PPP leaders Zulfiqar Afghani and Zulfiqar Awan said that the party’s provincial leadership has been “hijacked” and confined to the Governor House, while ordinary workers have been sidelined and ignored.

They lamented that no official event was organized in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to mark the death anniversary of Begum Nusrat Bhutto, revered as the “Mother of Democracy.” The only commemoration, they said, was arranged by local workers at the press club without any support from the provincial leadership.

The leaders alleged that a small group of individuals stationed at the Governor’s residence are controlling party affairs, restricting access to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and alienating long-serving workers.

They warned that if the provincial leadership fails to take corrective measures within ten days, PPP members from Peshawar will hold a press conference in Islamabad, followed by a protest outside Zardari House.

Criticizing what they called the leadership’s “complete inaction,” Afghani and Awan expressed concern that the PPP’s presence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is weakening, with several workers already parting ways due to disillusionment.

They urged the central leadership to take immediate notice of the situation and ensure the reorganization and strengthening of the party at the grassroots level in the province.

Reaffirming their loyalty to the PPP and its democratic legacy, the leaders vowed to “continue defending the party and its principles until their last breath.”
