Booni, Chitral, Sept 2, 2025: Students of Government Degree College (GDC) Booni strongly condemned the sudden transfer of their Principal and Physics lecturer.
They called the move illegal and politically motivated. The students held a press conference to express their concerns. They said the transfers threaten their educational rights. The students said the college already faces a shortage of teaching staff.
They added that this latest transfer causes further injustice. They noted that two lecturers were transferred last year, and the positions remain unfilled.
“This abrupt action seems like a political vendetta,” the students said. “It deliberately disrupts education at our college.”
The students warned the authorities to reverse the transfers within 48 hours. They said the authorities would bear responsibility for any consequences if they failed. The students also stated that they would involve students from other colleges in Upper and Lower Chitral. They may even block roads to protest if necessary.
It may be mentioned here that the KP government despite a ban on transfers and postings transfered the GDC Principal Muhammad Karim Khan and the lone Physics lecturer out if Chitral to the district of Dur Upper. Local youth alleged that the principal and the lecturer were part of a committee that had recommended departmental action against a Class IV of the college, a ruling party supporter, for prolonged absenteeism.
The students’ protest highlights rising concerns over political interference in educational institutions. It also emphasizes the urgent need for transparency in staff postings.
