First Didar Prince Rahim in France

Aga Khan grants first Didar to followers as 50th Imam

PARIS, 12 July 2025: His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan granted Didar to his followers at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles on July 12, 2025.

This historic gathering marked the first Didar of the 50th Imam, Mawlana Shah Rahim al-Hussaini Aga Khan V after his accession last year.

Earlier, the Aga Khan reached Paris on his first visit to any country after becoming the 50th Imam of the Ismaili Muslims.

Accompanied by his sons Prince Irfan and Prince Sinan, His Highness shared guidance and blessings with the Jamat. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the volunteers for their dedication in organising the visit and granted a special mulaqat to young members of the Jamat.

Mukhi Saheb of Paris Principal Jamatkhana submitted the Bayah to the Imam on behalf of the Jamat, while Aiaze Mitha, President of the Ismaili Council for France, delivered a welcome address.

To commemorate this momentous occasion, the Jamat created an art installation entitled Ensemble-Together, representing the community’s individual and collective stories.

The artwork features symbolic plants and fruits, including the Mangrove, which represents migration across the Indian Ocean – from Gujarat to Madagascar and East Africa; an Olive Tree, symbolising the welcome the Jamat found in France and other countries under its jurisdiction; the Pomegranate, honouring members of the Jamat from Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Pakistan and India; the Fig, commemorating those who journeyed from Syria and other parts of the world; and Grape Leaves, representing the extension of the community to include family members of diverse faiths and backgrounds.

The fruits and leaves were inscribed with hundreds of handwritten messages by Jamat members and their multi-faith family members of all ages. These messages expressed a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and to serving the Imam and his Jamat.
