BOONI: Rain disrupted the annual Kaghlasht festival on the second day on Friday with most of the spectators leaving the venue in the afternoon.
The four-day festival started on Thursday after remaining suspended for five years. A large number of people had arrived at the venue. The day started with an overcast sky followed by intermittent rain.
Some of the events scheduled for the day, including a polo match, could not be held. However, volleyball, cricket and hockey matches were held in which Degree College Booni, Mulkhow, Parwak, Reshun and Young Star Booni remained victorious.
Despite large scale damages caused by recent rains and snowfall and a forecast for another wet spell, the committee organizing the festival seemed in a hurry in holding the event.
Kaghlasht festival is 2,000 years old, organized by the people of Chitral. The festival is now being held under the KP Culture and Tourism Authority to protect the indigenous Kho culture and highlight and market it as tourism product.
