Chitral, June 19, 2026: A fire broke out at a petrol pump in Darkhanan Deh, Ayun, late on Tuesday night.
According to Rescue 1122, the fire was reported around 2am, after which firefighting teams rushed from Chitral to the site with fire vehicles. The blaze was brought under control after nearly three hours of continuous firefighting.
Rescue officials said the timely and professional response of firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to nearby shops and residential houses. However, three vehicles parked at the petrol pump were damaged in the incident.
A total of three fire vehicles and seven firefighters took part in the operation, using around 30,000 litres of water to extinguish the flames. Teams from the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Lower Chitral also assisted in the firefighting efforts.
The cause of the fire could not be immediately ascertained, and further investigation is underway.
Officials praised the coordinated response of Rescue 1122 and TMA teams, stating that their efforts averted a potentially major disaster in the area.
