9th Grade Student Honoured for Rescuing Monal Pheasant

Chitral, Feb 2, 2026: A 9th-grade student from Shishi, Muhammad Saifullah, was honoured by the district administration and the Wildlife Department for rescuing a rare Monal Pheasant in Lower Chitral.
The appreciation ceremony was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral Rao Hasim Azeem, who presented the student with a souvenir and an appreciation certificate.

The event was attended by Farooq Nabi, Divisional Forest Officer (Wildlife) Chitral, and other officials of the Wildlife Department.

The honour was awarded on the directions of Dr. Mohsin Farooq, Chief Conservator Wildlife Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On the occasion, the deputy commissioner also handed over a cash reward of Rs. 10,000, which had been announced by Junaid Khan, Secretary Climate Change, Forestry, Environment and Wildlife.

Later, the rescued Monal Pheasant was released into its natural habitat at Chitral Gol National Park by Muhammad Saifullah himself as a gesture of encouragement and recognition for his responsible act.

Officials praised the student’s commitment to wildlife protection and expressed hope that such positive actions would inspire others, especially the youth, to play their role in conserving endangered species and protecting natural heritage.
