Islamabad, Jan 21, 2026: Pakistan has agreed to join the Board of Peace, reaffirming its commitment to international efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in Gaza, the Foreign Office announced on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the decision reflects Pakistan’s continued support for the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan under UN Security Council Resolution 2803.
The invitation to join the Board was extended to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif by US President Donald J. Trump.
Pakistan expressed hope that the new framework would lead to concrete steps toward a permanent ceasefire, enhanced humanitarian assistance for Palestinians, and the reconstruction of Gaza.
Reiterating its principled stance, the Foreign Office said Pakistan supports the right to self-determination of the Palestinian people and called for a credible, time-bound political process in accordance with UN resolutions.
This process, it added, should culminate in the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and contiguous State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Pakistan also reaffirmed its commitment to playing a constructive role within the Board of Peace to help alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and promote lasting regional stability.
