Chitral, Dec 27, 2025: The Lower Chitral Police helped an Australian tourist, Liam Deringwater, re-establish contact with his family after communication was disrupted due to harsh weather conditions and network issues in the region.
Liam Deringwater had arrived in Chitral to attend the Kalash festival Chawmos when prolonged bad weather and poor connectivity prevented him from contacting his family.
Concerned about his safety, his father, Theo Deringwater, approached the Australian Embassy, which in turn requested the government of Pakistan for assistance.
Acting on the special directives of District Police Officer Lower Chitral, Riffat Ullah Khan, police team along with staff of the Foreigner Registration Office (FRO) traced the tourist.
After being located, Liam Deringwater spoke to his father and other family members, informing them about his well-being, and extended them Christmas greetings.
