BAJAUR, Dec 16, 2025: At least two people, including a police official, were killed when unknown gunmen opened fire on an anti-polio vaccination team in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.
According to police officials, the incident occurred in the Tangi area of Salarzai tehsil, where a polio vaccination team was administering drops to children.
Armed assailants suddenly opened fire, resulting in the death of a police personnel assigned to protect the team and a passerby. The attackers managed to flee the scene.
Security forces launched a search operation in the area to trace and arrest those responsible for the attack.
In Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the incident and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives. He offered prayers for the departed souls and extended condolences to the bereaved families.
The prime minister directed authorities to immediately identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
