Police Release Underage Drivers After Parents’ Undertaking

CHITRAL, Dec 12, 2025: Several underage drivers and motorcyclists in Lower Chitral were detained and released after their parents provided written undertakings, pledging not to allow their children to drive vehicles or motorcycles in the future.

The move comes as part of an intensified campaign against underage driving and the improper use of flashlights, following directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Rifatullah Khan.

Under the supervision of Traffic Warden In-charge ASI Jan Baz Khan, traffic wardens established multiple checkpoints at strategic locations across the district. During these operations, several minors were stopped and brought to the Traffic Warden Police Office in Zargarandeh. After ensuring that parental undertakings were submitted, the youngsters were released, emphasizing the importance of parental responsibility in maintaining road safety.

Police have issued a strong appeal to parents to cooperate with the law and prevent minors from driving or riding motorcycles. Authorities warned that legal action could be taken against parents if violations occur, highlighting the shared responsibility of families in safeguarding public safety.

Officials said children are the future of the nation and alongside proper upbringing they must also be taught to follow the law. Such measures, they said, will help develop responsible citizens capable of contributing positively to the progress and well-being of the country.
