Poor Quality Snack Products Seized In Chitral Bazaar

CHITRAL, Dec 12, 2025: A considerable quantity of low-quality, unhygienic, and unsafe snack products was confiscated from various outlets in Chitral Bazaar during a crackdown.

The action was initiated by a joint inspection team of the assistant director industries/Consumer Protection Council and the assistant firector Halal Food Authority.

The operation was conducted to curb the sale of substandard and potentially harmful chips and snack items being sold to consumers in the market.

The deputy commissioner Lower Chitral had instructed the departments to intensify market monitoring to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

Authorities have also formally initiated further legal proceedings against shopkeepers found violating the Consumer Protection Act 1997 (amended 2017), for failing to adhere to mandatory quality and hygiene requirements.

Officials stated that the primary objective of the operation is to safeguard public health and ensure the availability of hygienic and standardised food products to consumers across the district.

They added that similar monitoring activities and enforcement actions will continue in the future as part of the government’s commitment to improving service delivery, strengthening market oversight, and protecting consumer rights.
