PM Wants to Boost Ties with World Economic Forum

Riyadh, October 28, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to strengthening its relationship with the World Economic Forum (WEF) during a meeting with WEF President and CEO Børge Brende on the sidelines of the 9th Future Investment Initiative Conference in Riyadh.

The WEF leadership extended a formal invitation for Pakistan’s participation at the Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, scheduled for January 2026, highlighting the country’s growing importance on the global economic stage.

During the discussion, Prime Minister Sharif underscored Pakistan’s ongoing economic reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy, boosting investment, and advancing digital transformation. He highlighted the country’s recent progress in improving macroeconomic indicators and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering export-led growth and leveraging its youthful workforce and expanding IT sector.

Prime Minister Sharif also welcomed WEF’s involvement in addressing food security challenges, particularly in the context of Pakistan’s agrarian economy, while emphasizing the role of peace as a cornerstone for prosperity.

Concluding the meeting, President Børge Brende expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s active engagement with the World Economic Forum and conveyed his eagerness for continued collaboration to foster a mutually beneficial partnership in the future.
