Islamabad, Oct 24, 2025: The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has unveiled the design and details of Pakistan’s new passport, which features updated security elements, a refined layout, and several modern additions aimed at aligning with international standards.
According to an official statement, the new passport will now include both the father’s and mother’s names — a significant step towards inclusivity and modernization in national identification documents.
The redesigned visa pages will also feature images of historic and cultural landmarks from different provinces of Pakistan, reflecting the country’s diverse heritage. Printing of the new passport booklets is currently underway at the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation following approval from the Ministry of Interior.
Officials emphasized that while the document’s design and security features have been upgraded, the existing validity options and fee structure will remain unchanged.
A standard five-year passport with 36 pages will continue to cost Rs 4,500, while a ten-year passport will cost Rs 6,700. For urgent processing, the fee is Rs 7,500 for a five-year passport and Rs 11,200 for a ten-year passport.
The traditional green cover of the Pakistani passport has been retained, though refreshed with a more contemporary appearance. The Interior Ministry stated that these updates aim to make the passport not only more attractive but also more secure and technologically advanced.
The modernization initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to enhance the quality, security, and global recognition of Pakistan’s travel documents.
