Chitral, Oct 20, 2025: Just a few yards from the historic Royal Fort in Klup Risht, piles of garbage, open drains, and a foul stench expose the gap between the government’s promises and the reality behind the slogan of a “Clean and Green Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
The area sits close to the residence of PTI Chitral President and MPA Fatehul Mulk Ali Nasir, but municipal authorities continue to ignore the surrounding neighborhoods.
Residents say municipal workers clean the royal fort’s immediate surroundings but neglect nearby residential areas.
“The administration focuses only on VIP zones. We are forced to live amid garbage and open sewage,” one resident said.Locals accuse officials of the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Chitral of abandoning sanitation work to focus on forming their own polo team.
They urged the district administration and municipal officials to clean public spaces and give all areas the same attention as VIP neighborhoods.
Residents warned that if authorities fail to act, the “Clean and Green Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” slogan will remain nothing more than political rhetoric.
