The Ismaili community in Chitral is joyfully celebrating the first birthday of His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan as the 50th hereditary Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims.
Prince Rahim ascended to the Imamat in February 2025, following the passing of his father, Prince Karim Aga Khan IV. Ismailis in Chitral actively participate in the celebrations, mirroring the vibrant observances that Ismaili communities conduct across the globe.
In Chitral, community members prepared special meals following the traditional sacrifice of animals, including cows and oxen, in all Jamat Khanas. Volunteers have decorated the Jamat Khanas beautifully, creating a festive atmosphere.
Members attend large religious congregations, engage in spiritual reflection, and participate in musical programs, which add a joyful and cultural dimension to the celebrations.
Around the world, Ismailis are organizing similar celebrations. Communities in North America, East Africa, Europe and Central Asia hold cultural programs, carry out service projects, and gather at their Jamat Khanas to honor the new Imam. These global celebrations highlight the values of faith, service and social responsibility that Prince Rahim Aga Khan promotes among his followers.
The Ismaili community in Chitral, like their counterparts worldwide, expresses deep respect, love and loyalty for Prince Rahim Aga Khan. These celebrations mark a new chapter in the spiritual leadership of the Ismaili community and reinforce a collective commitment to unity, service, and peace under the guidance of the new Imam.
