KARACHI, Oct 8, 2025: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa visited the Aga Khan University (AKU) in Karachi after the CDA recently approved the allotment of land for the construction of an Aga Khan Hospital in Islamabad.
The federal minister and the CDA chief met AKU President Dr. Sulaiman Shahabuddin and members of the University’s leadership to discuss areas of mutual interest and explore ways to strengthen collaboration between the federal government and the University.
They focused on AKU’s plan to build a state-of-the-art Aga Khan Hospital in the federal capital. The university aims to deliver high-quality healthcare services, advanced medical education, and cutting-edge research through the new facility.
The hospital will serve residents of Islamabad as well as communities from surrounding regions, including the northern areas, and will significantly strengthen Pakistan’s healthcare system.
Mr. Sultan Ali Allana, Chairman of HBL and Director of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development, also joined the meeting.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised Aga Khan University for its longstanding contributions to healthcare and education in Pakistan. He assured the University of the government’s full support to ensure the timely establishment of the hospital in Islamabad. He also commended AKU for acting as a trusted national partner by providing world-class medical services and developing skilled human resources in the health sector.
