Booni, Oct 7, 2025: A meeting of elders and notable figures of Booni was held at Booni-1 office under the chairmanship of Shamsur Rahman Lal to discuss the government’s proposal to hand over the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Booni to a private entity.
The sole agenda of the meeting was the proposed privatization of the hospital. The participants unanimously opposed the idea and strongly demanded that instead of transferring the THQ Hospital to the private sector, it should be upgraded to the status of a District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.
They noted that since Upper Chitral has been given the status of a separate district, it is the legitimate right of its residents to have a DHQ Hospital to cater to their healthcare needs. They emphasized that the existing THQ Hospital Booni is the most suitable facility for this upgrade.
The elders decided to submit a formal resolution to the honourable Deputy Speaker, requesting her to use her authority to resolve this important issue.
They appealed to her to play her role in ensuring that the people of the area, especially the poor, are provided with better healthcare facilities instead of being burdened by privatization.
