CHITRAL, Sept 24, 2025: Residents of Chitral Gol Conservancy have warmly welcomed the issuance of trophy hunting permits, calling it a landmark development that holds historic significance for the community and for the protection of wildlife in the region.
They rejected the recent remarks of Gahiret Gol Conservation Committee president Faizur Rahman and expressed gratitude to Divisional Forest Officer (Wildlife) Rizwanullah Yousafzai for facilitating the process.
Community representatives while talking to ChitralToday praised the tireless efforts and effective leadership of Chitral Gol National Park chairman Saleemuddin, whose work enabled the conservancy to secure, for the first time in its history, an exportable trophy hunting permit.
The residents also recognized the valuable contributions of Chief Conservator Mohsin Farooq and Conservator National Parks Hussain Ahmad, whose support helped achieve this milestone.
Community members recalled that prospective bidders visited Chitral in August, inspected different locations within the conservancy, and showed strong interest in trophy hunting opportunities.
They emphasized that this achievement fulfills a long-standing demand of the local population, strengthens the area’s economic foundations, and establishes a milestone in advancing sustainable wildlife conservation practices.
Chitral Gol was included in trophy hunting scheme by the govt in 2024.
Why trophy hunting of markhor so costly?
