ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has honoured a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) pilot who destroyed India’s S-400 air defence system during Operation Banyan al-Marsoos.
At Aiwan-e-Sadr on Thursday, President Asif Ali Zardari and the Prime Minister awarded top civil and military honours to outstanding individuals.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Wing Commander Malik Rizwan-ul-Haq received the Tamgha-e-Basalat for bravery and exceptional skill. The Prime Minister presented the medal and introduced him as the officer who destroyed the S-400. The audience responded with loud applause.
On May 10, Pakistan’s armed forces launched Operation Banyan al-Marsoos in response to Indian aggression. PAF used a JF-17 Thunder armed with a hypersonic missile to destroy the advanced S-400 system.
