Eight Volunteers Die in Gilgit’s Danyor Nullah Landslide

GILGIT, Aug 11: A landslide killed eight volunteers in Danyore Nullah, Gilgit, on Monday. Three others suffered injuries.

Police said the volunteers were clearing a flood-damaged water channel. Suddenly, a mass of earth slid down and buried them. Rescue workers and locals pulled out eight bodies. They moved the injured to hospital, where doctors declared an emergency.

Officials fear more people may be trapped. Heavy rain has made the slopes unstable. The risk of further landslides remains high.

Authorities have urged residents to avoid danger zones until conditions improve.
