PARIS, July 11: His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan, the 50th Imam of the Ismaili Muslims, signed three significant agreements with French President Emmanuel Macron during his visit to France on Friday.
The agreements formalize cooperation between the French Republic and the Ismaili Imamat, alongside declarations of intent to collaborate on development projects in Syria and the Indian Ocean region.
The visit to the Élysée Palace underscores the longstanding partnership between the Ismaili Imamat, the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), and France. For over 30 years, AKDN and France’s Agence Française de Développement have collaborated on more than 60 projects across Africa, South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
Prince Rahim Aga Khan was accompanied by his sons Prince Irfan, Prince Sinan, uncle Prince Amyn, brothers Prince Hussain, Prince Aly Muhammad and senior leaders of the Ismaili community and AKDN during the meeting with President Macron.
The Aga Khan family has maintained close ties with France for over 75 years, contributing notably to French culture, diplomacy, tourism and equestrian sports. The Ismaili community has lived and actively contributed to France’s growth for more than six decades.
On July 12 and 13, Mawlana Hazar Imam will grant Didar to the Ismaili Jamat from France, Switzerland, Belgium and Côte d’Ivoire.
