BOONI: Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission chairman retired Brigadier Muzaffar Ali Ranjha here on Friday assured the public that the government will complete work on Chitral-Booni road this year, except for the section up to Shandur which will be ready next year.
He also committed to completing the Booni–Buzund road within this year. He announced that authorities will pay all pending compensation to affected landowners within one month. He also confirmed that the government had allocated funds for the Lowari to Chitral road and will start construction as soon as possible.
Earlier, Mr Ranjha and his team inspected the Chitral-Booni road and reviewed the construction progress.
At an open court (khuli kuchehri) held at the deputy commissioner’s office in Booni, he addressed a large gathering of local residents, political leaders, district officials, NHA representatives and contractors.
Former MNA Shahzada Iftikhar Uddin and former MPA Syed Ahmed raised concerns about delays on the Chitral-Shandur and the Booni-Buzund roads and highlighted the hardships these delays cause.
Shahzada Iftikhar pointed out that people of Chitral were fed up with the poor working and alleged corruption in both the C&W department and the NHA and the government should take notice of it and resolve the issues.
The chairman of the Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission remarked that corruption has existed since the beginning of mankind and no society is entirely free from it. However, he emphasized that while it may not be completely eradicated, corruption can be significantly reduced through sustained and collective efforts – and we will minimize it.
It may be noted that the contractor of Chitral-Booni road, Umar Jan, also promised at a meeting chaired by Mr Ranjha in Chitral town a day earlier that the work would be completed in four months.
