Social activist from GB shot dead in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through Gilgit-Baltistan, well-known social activist Abbas Pasha, originally from Nagar, was shot dead in Rawalpindi.

According to police sources, the accused, identified as Joown, a close associate of the deceased from Nagar, has confessed to the murder and voluntarily surrendered to the authorities.

Police have launched a formal investigation into the matter, and further details surrounding the motive and circumstances of the killing are expected to emerge in the coming days.

Abbas Pasha was widely respected for his activism and community work in Gilgit-Baltistan, particularly in his home district of Nagar. His untimely death has prompted an outpouring of grief on social media and among civil society circles.

His funeral prayers will be held today at 3:30pm at Nagar Khas Chowk as the dead body of the victim was transported to his native area.
