CHITRAL: A Suzuki pick-up met with an accident near Shoghor along the Garam Chashma Road and plunged into the River Chitral on Friday.
According to Rescue 1122 Lower Chitral, the driver managed to escape unharmed, but a second occupant of the vehicle fell into the river and went missing.
Upon receiving the emergency call, Rescue 1122’s response team reached the site and launched a search operation across various points in the river. Despite their efforts, no trace of the missing individual has been found so far. However, the submerged vehicle was recovered from the river and handed over to its owner.
This incident marks the third such case within the past three days, in which three people, including a child, have gone missing after falling into the River Chitral in separate accidents.
Rescue 1122\’s divers continue search and recovery operations at multiple locations along the river. Authorities have requested residents living near the riverbanks to immediately inform Rescue 1122 if they spot any human remains or belongings in or near the river.
