CHITRAL: The highly anticipated Shandur Polo Festival 2025 will be held from June 20 to June 22 at the world\’s highest polo ground in Shandur, Upper Chitral, officials announced here on Saturday.
Director General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Authority Habib Arif confirmed that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had finalized the dates for the event. The festival, a celebrated cultural and sporting event in Pakistan, attracts thousands of domestic and international tourists each year.
Tourism Advisor Zahid Chanzeb has instructed all concerned departments to finalize preparations for the event without delay. He emphasized the need to ensure all necessary facilities are provided to visiting tourists, promising a memorable experience amidst the majestic landscapes of Shandur.
“The successful organization of the festival and a robust awareness campaign will be launched immediately,” said DG Habib Arif, highlighting the government’s commitment to promoting tourism in the region.
Teams from Lower and Upper Chitral will compete against their traditional rivals from Gilgit-Baltistan in thrilling freestyle polo matches that are the hallmark of the Shandur Polo Festival.
The event is being organized through joint efforts of the Pakistan Army, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Authority, district administrations of Lower and Upper Chitral, Chitral Police and Chitral Scouts.
Shandur Polo Festival is not just a sporting event but a vibrant display of local culture, music, and hospitality that continues to strengthen bonds between the people of Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan while boosting regional tourism.
