Dispensary in Sor Laspur Nonfunctional dispensary in Chitral Sor Laspur

Dispensary nonfunctional even after 10 years

MASTUJ: A dispensary constructed in 2016 in the Sor Laspur village of Upper Chitral is still nonfunctional with the residents deprived of basic healthcare facilities even in this modern era.

According to locals, the dispensary was built with funds from the district government but has never been equipped with staff, medicines, or basic medical equipment.

Speaking to ChitralToday, the residents expressed frustration that they are forced to travel long distances even for minor illnesses resulting in a waste of time, money, and risking their health.

They pointed out that this is the third consecutive provincial government formed by the PTI and despite Laspur Valley being a stronghold of the party, the area remains neglected in terms of development and basic services.

Repeated appeals to district PTI leaders, including Wazirzada (focal person for minority affairs), MNA Abdul Latif and PTI Upper Chitral President Shahzada Sikandarul Mulk, have gone unanswered.

The residents also expressed disappointment that Deputy Speaker Suraiya Bibi, who herself hails from Union Council Laspur, had not yet taken practical steps to address this serious issue despite getting an overwhelming supports from Laspur in the general elections.

Women, elders and youth of the valley have collectively called for immediate appointment of medical staff and provision of essential medicines and equipment at the Sor Laspur dispensary so the people of the area can finally access basic healthcare.
