PESHAWAR: A suicide attack near the cattle market in Peshawar targeted a police mobile, resulting in the martyrdom of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Laeq Zada and a constable, while three other officials sustained injuries.
According to SSP Operations Masood Bangash, the tragic incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Chamkani Police Station, where a police patrol vehicle was attacked by a suicide bomber. The explosion was so intense that it shattered windows of nearby buildings and spread panic in the area.
The martyrs have been identified as ASI Laeq Zada and a police constable. Among the injured is the vehicle’s driver, Sadaqat, along with two other personnel, who were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The SSP stated that initial evidence suggests the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber. Bomb disposal and forensic teams have collected evidence from the scene, and the area has been cordoned off for a comprehensive search operation.
The chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the inspector general of police have strongly condemned the attack, paid tribute to the martyrs, and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.
