Reconstruction of water supply canal in Dizg nears ompletion

DIZG (YARKHUN): The reconstruction of the vital water supply canal in Dizg village is now nearing completion, marking a significant milestone for the local community.

The canal was washed during flash floods in Dizg Gol recently, resulting in the disruption of water supply to agricultural lands and orchards across nearly half of the village.

Faced with the severe impact on their livelihoods and unable to restore the canal through their own resources, the affected residents led by Piyar Ali Khan approached Deputy Commissioner (DC) Upper Chitral Haseebur Rehman Khan Khalil, seeking urgent financial assistance for the reconstruction work.

Responding promptly to the request, the deputy commissioner directed the relevant department to assess the damage and propose a restoration plan.

Subsequently, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Abdul Wakil Khan conducted a survey of the damaged canal and submitted a report. On the basis of the findings, the district administration sanctioned special funds for the project.

The reconstruction effort has been carried out with the aim of restoring water flow to the village’s agricultural sector and ensuring the revival of orchards, which form a critical part of the local economy.

Community members have expressed their gratitude to the district administration for addressing the issue in a timely manner and facilitating the swift completion of the project.

The reconstruction of the canal is expected to significantly improve agricultural productivity and contribute to the economic well-being of the residents.
