CHITRAL: A soldier of Chitral Scouts embraced martyrdom after coming under sniper fire from across the Afghan border while on duty near the international boundary.
Sepoy Hameed Hussain of the 145 Wing of Chitral Scouts was performing duty at a border post in Damel Nisar when he was hit by a sniper fire from the Afghan side.
His funeral prayer was held in his native village of Phashk in Yarkhun.
The 144 Wing of Chitral Scouts presented a guard of honour before the martyr was laid to rest with full military honours.
Commander of 144 Wing Lt-Col Amir Maqsood Arif and other officers and personnel attended the funeral along with a large number of local people and paid tribute to the sacrifice of the fallen soldier.
