CHITRAL: Jamaat-e-Islami Lower Chitral has announced the schedule for “Gaza Solidarity Week,” during which various events will be organized across the district to raise awareness about the Israeli atrocities against unarmed Palestinians.

Speaking at a press conference here  on Sunday, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Lower Chitral Wajihuddin said the campaign is being launched under the directives of Jamaat chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman to highlight Israeli aggression in Gaza and break the silence of the global community.

Senior party leaders Shujaul Haq Baig, Qari Fida Muhammad, Prof. Hissamuddin, Engineer Fasihuddin, Iftikharuddin, Irfan Aziz, and Yasir Asad were also present.

Wajihuddin said various events have been planned, including rallies, youth conventions, resistance-themed poetry recitals, ulema gatherings, student rallies and conventions. A unique feature will be simultaneous public gatherings in 30 different localities of the district on Friday.

He added that a special program will also be held with the bar association and a grand march will be organized in Chitral town.

The traders’ community will also be engaged with a focus on boycotting Israeli products to cause financial loss to Israel. The public will be educated on how avoiding these products can deal a significant blow to the enemy’s economy, he added.

Wajihuddin stated that since Israel ended the ceasefire on March 25, over 1,563 Palestinians have been killed, bringing the total number of martyrs to over 60,000, including many innocent children.

He added that millions have been injured, yet the global community in general and the Muslim Ummah in particular remain criminally silent.

He said Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has launched a large-scale awareness campaign globally to awaken the Muslim world. The campaign will culminate in a historic million-man march in Islamabad on April 20 to show the world that the people of Pakistan stand with their Palestinian brothers.

Criticizing the Pakistani leadership, he said they lack the courage to adopt a bold policy on Palestine due to their submissiveness to the United States.

The 30 localities where rallies will be held include Ashiret, Arandu, Drosh, Jinjiret, Kesu, Shishi Koh, Broz, Ayun, Bumburate, Chumarkhon, Jughor, Denin, Singoor, Koghuzi, Barenis, Mroi, Kalkatak, Prayit, Garam Chashma, and Chitral town.
