CHITRAL: In the annual election of the District Bar Association Lower Chitral, Advocate Mominur Rehman was elected president on Tuesday.
Other elected office-bearers include Advocate Waqas Ahmad as Vice President, Sajid Zafar Baig as General Secretary, Saleem Sarwar as Finance Secretary, Faisal Kamal as Joint Secretary, and Advocate Zafarul Haq as Secretary Library.
Three candidates who vied for the position of president were Sajidullah, Mominur Rehman, and Raza Ali. Mominur Rehman secured 28 votes, Sajidullah 26, and Raza Ali 15 votes. Out of 82 registered voters, 69 cast their votes.
The elected executive members include Rizwanullah, Sardar Ali, Nabeeh, and Advocate Rahat Ali.
The election board was headed by Advocate Alam Zaib as chairman, with Advocate Nizam Mustafa assisting as a member.
Due to the election, lawyers did not attend court proceedings today.
The lawyers’ community said that there is no groupism or party politics in the association and that candidates are elected purely based on merit and competence.–Bashir Hussain Azad
