ISLAMABAD: A female flight attendant was assaulted by a passenger on a PIA flight from Islamabad to Paris.
According to the airline sources, the air hostess asked a passenger to stop smoking, which enraged him. He then assaulted the flight attendant.
When a male flight steward tried to intervene and protect the air hostess, the passenger, identified as Safeer, also got into a physical altercation with him.
Before landing at the Paris airport, the pilot contacted air traffic control and requested security personnel. Upon arrival in Paris, security officials arrested the passenger.
A PIA spokesperson confirmed the incident and stated that the security personnel had recorded the statement of the flight attendant.
It may be noted that about three weeks ago, an air hostess of a private airline was beaten by the daughter of a retired bureaucrat. That incident took place on March 18 on a Serene Air flight from Quetta to Islamabad in which former Quetta commissioner Iftikhar Jogzai was traveling with his daughter Saima. The man and his daughter also misbehaved with the staff while checking in at Quetta airport.
