ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has set a limit for the annual tuition fees of private medical colleges.
According to a statement issued by the PMDC, the annual fee limit for MBBS and BDS programs in private medical colleges has been set at Rs1.8 million. The fee will be applicable for five years for MBBS and four years for BDS.
The decision was taken by a committee headed by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. The PMDC has made it clear that unnecessary and unreasonable increase in fees will not be acceptable.
Ishaq Dar emphasized the government\’s resolve to strengthen medical education through transparent policies, better training standards and equitable opportunities for students and institutions alike.
It may be noted that despite repeated directions by the PMDC, private medical colleges have been charging exorbitant fees from students, with some of them even lacking basic facilities.
