Probe begins against pro-VC for alleged corruption

PESHAWAR: The Higher Education Department of KP has formed a committee to investigate alleged irregularities against Professor Dr. Naseeruddin, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Kohat University of Science and Technology.
According to an official statement, the committee comprises higher education officers Shafiq-ur-Rehman and Rahmat Ali to probe the allegations of corruption and various other complaints. The committee has been directed to submit its report within two weeks.
Sources said that the university’s administration, faculty and staff had submitted a white paper against the pro-vice chancellor, accusing him of multiple irregularities and abuse of power.
Documents show that Dr. Naseeruddin allegedly used forged documents to secure a promotion from assistant professor to associate professor. Additionally, he is accused of unlawfully holding the position of registrar.
According to the documents, the pro-vice chancellor convened a selection board illegally to promote favored individuals and pressured the registrar to grant extra marks to preferred candidates for appointments.
Moreover, Dr. Naseeruddin faces allegations of illegal house allotment, using four university vehicles for personal purposes, and suppressing a corruption case against the university treasurer.
University insiders state that the issue is negatively affecting academic and administrative affairs, while employees await a transparent investigation and justice.
