Women empowerment & its implications – 1
There has been a concept of women empowerment since 20th century that has been supported and opposed all over the world and after many decades the proponents of empowerment have worked tirelessly to give their arguments on numerous fora but there are also staunch supporters with their own pleas and have given various precedents to prove their cause.
It was started in the West and slowly carried to the less developed countries with dollar as bait to hook the fair sex. The West in the meanwhile also launched other movements and got rid of the traditional family system in the Christendom where Pope holds spiritual sway. The Catholic Church has undergone a number of alterations at the behest of the powerful Kings but once at a crucial stage of history Henry 8th of England broke away from the Authority of the Pope and established his own Church of England- the ANGLICAN Church and thus he was free to marry 8 wives instead of one that was decreed by the Roman Catholic Church.
The Protestants had also broken away from Pope and rejected his commandments. It was the short picture of the Christian World. Their women began to demand freedom and launched awareness movements across Europe and some Feminists also advocated their cause. They wanted to give more power to women in all spheres of life but few countries have allowed right of vote to women till late. Wages of the female workers were also much less than men.
The women were still not satisfied and fought for more and then broke away completely from the male dominated society. The women became unbridled and were free in all walks of life so the social system of the west broke or got weaker. Legislations were made and taboos removed. This led to a mess and immoral stage of society which was witnessed by the immigrants of other parts of the globe and was reported in media.
The electronic and print media advocated Feminism and thus a new phase of social order emerged. Their family system broke and children began to run away from their parents for freedom of individual right. This had its effects on the nations across the globe and a wave of unrest spread.
The unbridled liberty led to girl friend and boyfriend fashion and their babies became ‘street children’. In majority cases the boy friend fled from the scene as soon as the Romance eclipsed and the ‘single parent’ phase emerged and developed in all the ranks of western society. This moral degradation did not stop there but went further and led to the establishment of NUDIST colonies. The idea of living of young men and women, away from the family led to a state that exists in the wild life.
The education system of the countries in the West did not pay any kind of serious attention to this phenomenon and failed to bring discipline to the youth in their societies. The family system broke and children sued their parents for admonition by parents and the Courts upheld the pleas of the Children. Laws and rules were framed but the enactments loosened the social fabric and the idea of Feminism did not give any benefits to the women for which that movement had been launched.
To be continued…
A beautiful writeup sir, yet much could be written on the positive aspect of the movements which endeavor to emancipate women from the bondage of androcentric societies.
