BANNU: The Anti-Corruption Department in Bannu has obtained warrants for the arrest of a judge based in Islamabad on the charge of occupying state land along with his brothers for a housing scheme.
Humayun Dilawar, the special judge (central) Islamabad, had sentenced PTI founder Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case on August 5, 2023. However, the Islamabad High Court later granted bail to Khan and ordered his release.
The former prime minister and his wife Bushra Bibi were disqualified from holding public office for 10 years a week before the general elections 2024.
They were also awarded 14 years’ rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs787 million each in the Toshakhana case.
In Peshawar today, the KP chief minister’s special assistant Musadiq Abbasi said that warrants had been obtained by a court in Bannu against judge Humayun and his three brothers in the land grabbing case.
He said that the accused persons got the state land transferred in their name to launch a housing society. He said Judge Dilawar was the chief executive officer of the society. Mr Abbasi also claimed that the accused persons caused a loss of millions of rupees to the government.
