Residents of Booni in Upper Chitral held a meeting on Monday and condemned the government for the persistent power crisis that has plagued the area for years.
The meeting convened by Tehreek Huqooq-e-Awam unanimously passed a resolution demanding immediate relief from the crippling power outages.
Tehreek President Mukhtar Ahmed, General Sectary  Pervez Lal and Chairman Anwarullah Khan chaired the gathering, which was attended by local elders, all parties\’  representatives and civil society members.
On the occasion, speakers lambasted PESCO and PEDO for their failure to provide reliable electricity supply despite exorbitant billing. High bills are being paid, but electricity remains scarce, said one speaker. The community is suffering due to the outages.
The meeting issued a stern warning to PESCO and PEDO, demanding tangible steps to address the issue. Failure to comply with the demand will result in a large-scale protest and road blockades, for which the authorities will be held accountable.
The community also appealed to DC Upper Chitral to intervene and resolve the crisis.
